The Quilchena Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is essentially a parents' group. Its purpose is to provide support to the school's program and teachers for the benefit of the students. It consists of an executive of elected parents and involves the principal, a teacher representative and parents of children at Quilchena. Meetings are held usually every four to six weeks and are open to all parents whose children attend Quilchena. Membership is voluntary; the executive consists of parents who do not receive remuneration for their services.
Participation as a PAC member is a great way to network with other parents and to keep up-to-date on the latest information and events at Quilchena. For more information about Parent Advisory Councils, please refer to the links to the right or simpy attend the next QPAC meeting! [more about QPAC]

Quilchena School in the News.
Quilchena Elementary was recently covered in the local media. A big thank-you goes out to all the students, families, staff and volunteers who helped with this worthwhile cause. When a group of Grade 7 students from a west-side Vancouver school heard about an east-side school where many of its students come from impoverished backgrounds, unable to afford snacks or warm clothing, they decided to do something about it.
The students from Quilchena elementary school held bake sales and raised $500 which will be used to buy non-perishable snacks for students in need at Queen Alexandra elementary school, one of 12 Vancouver schools with an inner city designation.

AQA Update - Extension to Dec. 12th and Progress.
By popular demand (and at the request of your PAC), the AQA contribution deadline has been extended to December 12th. Please send in your donations to your child's classroom. As of Friday, December 2nd we had raised over $10,000 from 64 families – THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Just over 20,000 to go to reach our 2011/12 target . . . .
Annual Quilchena Appeal “AQA”
Our goal this year is to raise $32,500. Last year, you generously contributed over $29,000 to the Appeal. These funds helped PAC contribute significantly towards the purchase of Smart Boards, playground equipment, classroom resources, library books, sports and physical education equipment, computer and information technology, the Safe Arrival phone line, Eco Day programs and more.
When you support AQA, you also help fund:
Fine Arts, Arts & Science programs.
Annual financial allocations to each classroom.

December PAC Meeting - Dec 8, 2011.
The next QPAC meeting is set for Thursday, December 8th - 7-8:30pm in the library.
There will be updates on fundraising, school programs and events, requests for PAC funding, and a report from the principal.
